Smallville: 3.43 million, 1.4 in adults 18-49, 1.5 in adults 18-34
Supernatural: 2.90 million, 1.2 in adults 18-49, 1.2 in adults 18-34

Supernatural's retention out of Smallville was 85% in total viewers, 86% in adults 18-49, and 80% in adults 18-34.

I'm sure you've heard by now, but various sources, including The Hollywood Reporter and Variety have reported today that Supernatural was picked up for 22 episodes next season.  The official announcement, along with the network's schedule, will come at the upfronts Thursday morning.

The 1.2 rating in adults 18-49 indicates that 1.2% of all adults 18-49 in the US were watching the program.  Supernatural's retention was 85% in total viewers and 92% in adults 18-49 (a season high).  Note that Smallville once again sunk to a new series low, dipping below One Tree Hill in the demo.

Supernatural's retention out of Smallville was 87% in both total viewers and adults 18-49, and 94% in adults 18-34.

The 1.4 rating in adults 18-49 indicates that 1.4% of all adults 18-49 in the US were watching the program.  Supernatural's retention was 89% in total viewers and a whopping 93% in adults 18-49: season highs in both categories.  Note that Smallville is down 380,000 from last week's fast nationals, while Supernatural is down only 180,000 viewers despite airing against the first hour of special Grey's Anatomy (the two-hour episode served as the pilot of a potential spin-off for next season).

The 1.3 rating in adults 18-49 indicates that 1.3% of all adults in the US were watching the program.   Supernatural's retention was 82% in total viewers, 76% in adults 18-49, and 74% in adults 18-34.  Note that both shows were preempted in Chicago (the third largest market in the country) for a baseball game.

The 1.4 rating in adults 18-49 indicates that 1.4% of all adults 18-49 in the US were watching the program.  Supernatural's retention was 89% in total viewers and 82% in adults 18-49: season highs in both categories for first-run episodes.  Unfortunately, both shows were preempted in Chicago (the third largest market in the country) for a Cubs game, so the final numbers will be lower.

For comparison, here's the fast nationals for Heart (which was preempted in Chicago for a Bulls game):

Smallville: 4.12 million, 1.7 in adults 18-49
Supernatural: 3.52 million, 1.4 in adults 18-49

Smallville (repeat): 2.33 million viewers, 0.9 rating in adults 18-49
The Brick Awards: 1.05 million viewers, 0.4 rating in adults 18-49 

A 0.4 rating in adults 18-49 indicates that 0.4% of all adults in the US were watching the program.  Retention for the Brick Awards out of the Smallville repeat was only 45% in total viewers and 44% in adults 18-49.  For comparison, retention for the last Supernatural repeat (1.96 million, 0.8 in adults 18-49) was 77% in total viewers and 80% in adults 18-49.
